Dharmapalas

Regular practice
The Sanskrit word pala means “protector.” Dharmapalas are protectors of Dharma and guardians of the teachings. They are spiritual entities that assume the task of protecting the teachings and Vajrayana practitioners.
Some Dharmapalas are emanations of Buddhas or Bodhisattvas and others are spirits or demons that have been subdued and bounded by vow by great masters such as Guru Padmasambhava.
This practice helps us to avoid unfavorable circumstances for our spiritual progress, since the Dharmapalas took the vow or samaya before the Buddhas to help eliminate all that could constitute an obstacle in the path of Dharma practitioners.
